In the vast, lawless lands of Red Dead Redemption 2, a chance encounter with two fugitives, Sampson Black and Wendell White, sets off a chain of events that tests loyalty and freedom. “The Ties That Bind Us” is a captivating Stranger Mission that unfolds with unexpected twists, offering players a choice between justice and mercy. Dive into this walkthrough to navigate the intricate storyline, from removing wanted posters in Rhodes to the final showdown in Big Valley, and discover how your decisions shape the fate of these intriguing characters.
Finding and removing the posters
You can promise the prisoners to remove their bounty posters hanging around the entire Rhodes. The picture above shows locations of the posters.
- The poster no. 1 is on the notice board inside the train station.
- The poster no. 2 is on the pole near the main street.
- The poster no. 3 is on another pole, BUT it will be removed by a bounty hunter. Don’t attack this person when you are in the town. Follow him and attack after you move away from Rhodes. You can either kill the bounty hunter or hogtie him. Collect the poster by looting this person.
- The poster no. 4 is on the notice board on one of the buildings.
- The poster no. 5 is on a pole, BUT it is guarded by a hostile man. Defeat him in a fistfight and then remove the poster.
Making the decision regarding the convicts
Meet Mr. Black and Mr. White in the camp in the forest. You can act in two ways. The first solution is to capture the convicts alive and bring them to the prison in Rhodes. The best way to do that is to knock out the first convict by using a surprise attack and catch the second prisoner with the lasso.
Stow the first convict and take him to the sheriff’s office in Rhodes. Place him in the prison cell. Repeat the process with the second convict (he is marked on the map). Arthur will receive $80.
The second option is to burn the wanted posters – Mr. Black and Mr. White will be able to escape. Burning the posters is simple – approach the campfire and press the interaction button.
Meeting the fugitives again
You can take care of finding Mr. Black and Mr. White again if you have already decided to help them (i.e. you have burned down the letters) and if some time has passed since the last meeting.
Explore now the Dewberry Creek north of Rhodes. Only when you get closer to the place will the new marker appear.
