Dive into our guide to master these elusive mini-quests!

General information

  1. You can start looking for these items right from the beginning – some of them are in prearranged and/or widely available locations. However, you can’t give these items to your friends whenever you want. Arthur needs to learn that a specific gang member is looking for something. Usually, this happens when a gang member speaks to the main character during his visit at the current camp (see picture 1). This request is also added to your log (the picture 2). There are only a few instances where request circumstances are different, i.e. when you are traveling with someone during a mission.
  2. The majority of the conversations with the gang members happen during a day, but some meetings can only be triggered during a night. Visit the camp at different hours or use your bed to speed up the time.
  3. Almost all requests happen in chapters 2-4. There are only a few exceptions – some of them can appear after the epilogue.
  4. Bring the requested items to improve your relations with a given character and to receive honor points. Also, these gang members should give you something as a gift – this happens after some time passes (i.e. after 24 hours). These items will appear on the crate next to Arthur’s bed.
  5. Complete any 5 requests to unlock Errand Boy achievement/trophy. Start fulfilling requests after you reach the second chapter.
  6. Due to bugs, finding some of the gang members can be problematic. Don’t expect that you will complete all of the requests during your playthrough. However, you should visit the camp as often as possible and always stop when someone talks to Arthur. Not every conversation ends with a request, but doing that will reduce the risk of missing on them.

Abigail

Abigail’s request is rather unusual. The woman asks you for $5. You won’t receive anything besides a few honor points.

Bill

Bill asks you for a Hair Pomade. This item can be bought at a store or found somewhere in the world. As a reward, Bill will give you repeater ammo.

What are the most challenging item requests in Red Dead Redemption 2

Some of the most challenging item requests in Red Dead Redemption 2 involve specific time windows, rare items, and hard-to-find locations. Here are a few notable examples:

  • Jack’s Thimble (Chapter 2): Jack asks for his mother’s thimble, which can only be found by looting random bodies. Its unpredictability and reliance on chance make this request particularly frustrating to complete.

  • Mary-Beth’s Fountain Pen (Chapter 2): Mary-Beth requests a fountain pen, which can be found at Osman Grove in Roanoke Ridge. This remote location and the need to trigger her request at the right time add to the difficulty.

  • Pearson’s Rabbit (Chapters 2-4): While hunting a rabbit is simple, triggering Pearson’s request is notoriously tricky. It requires finding him preparing food between 8 A.M. and 12 P.M., making timing critical.

These requests demand patience, exploration, and careful attention to timing, making them some of the toughest tasks in the game.

Which challenges are the most rewarding in terms of experience points

The most rewarding challenges in terms of experience points (XP) are typically those that balance high difficulty with substantial rewards. Here are some examples based on gaming principles:

  1. High-Difficulty Combat Scenarios: Challenges like defeating powerful enemies or bosses often yield significant XP due to the skill and strategy required to overcome them. These scenarios push players to fully utilize their abilities and resources, making the rewards feel well-earned.

  2. Story-Driven Milestones: Completing major story arcs or pivotal quests often provides large XP rewards. These moments signify progress in the narrative and encourage players to engage deeply with the game’s world and characters.

  3. Dynamic and Adaptive Challenges: Personalized challenges that adapt to a player’s skill level or game state can offer both high engagement and substantial XP rewards. These tasks keep gameplay fresh and rewarding by tailoring difficulty to player progression.

  4. Risk-Reward Scenarios: Tasks that involve high stakes, such as optional objectives or side quests with increased difficulty, often come with enhanced XP payouts. Players are incentivized to take risks for greater rewards.

These types of challenges not only provide significant XP but also enhance the overall gaming experience by fostering a sense of accomplishment and progression.
