“Embark on a perilous journey through the frozen wilderness of Ambarino in Red Dead Redemption 2’s inaugural mission, Outlaws from the West. Join Arthur Morgan and the Van Der Linde gang as they seek refuge and supplies, only to find themselves entangled in a deadly confrontation with the notorious O’Driscoll Boys. Navigate the treacherous landscape, master the art of combat, and uncover the secrets of the Adler Ranch in this gripping walkthrough.”
How to trigger the mission: Automatically after the beginning of the game.
Walkthrough: Follow Dutch on horseback. This is a linear journey in which you should not stop or stray from your route. The group will be joined by Micah. You can talk to him on the go (hold down the talk button and select one of the dialog options), but this is optional.
After reaching the Adlers’ ranch, descend from the horse and hide in the shed on the left side. Wait until the Dutch greet the residents of the ranch. These are members of the hostile gang O’Driscoll Boys and you should attack them before they turn against Dutch. During combat, it is best to stay behind cover and shoot those enemies who lean out of cover or try to switch positions and become exposed.
The last survivor will try to flee. You can try to chase him but Dutch will let him go. After chasing him down, enter the main building on the ranch You must search the building – collect the items in sight and check out all interactive cabinets, crates and other containers.
The game will propose regeneration of the hero’s health core – open the bag and select a consumable (example in the picture). You can carry on searching the building or go outside to meet Dutch. In the bedside cabinet, you should be able to find a collectible card ((the card type is generated randomly) – this is one of the categories of secrets in the game.
Go to the barn where Arthur is attacked by a concealed bandit. There is a simple tutorial on melee combat. You don’t have to block the attacks. Simply press the button responsible for hitting in hand-to-hand combat until your opponent is knocked to the ground. Grab him and question the man. You can end the hearing in one of several ways – strangle the bandit, release him or beat him up. This type of choices in the game affect the coefficient of honor (reputation) of the hero, although in exceptional cases they may also have some long-term consequences.
Lift the hat and approach the horse. You need to calm it down before you can lead it out. The tame horse will become the main mount of the hero. The new cut-scene will end the mission.
How to get the gold medal for Bandits from the West?
In every mission in Red Dead Redemption 2, you can complete some challenges. Depending on how many of them you get, you will get a bronze, silver or gold medal. If you want to win a gold medal, you must always pass all the challenges. Furthermore, this should be done in the course of a single mission. If you haven’t earned gold, you can repeat the mission from the pause menu. You can find out more about this on the How to repeat missions? in our guide.
- Finish the shooting without taking any damage – Try not to leave behind the initial cover. Also, quickly remove your opponent from the building floor.
- Slaughter 6 or more items from the Adler Ranch – It’s very easy. Search the building thoroughly before you go outside.
- Complete the mission with at least 80% accuracy – try to shoot your opponents when they are not moving. This will reduce the risk of missing with your shots.
What are the key challenges in the Outlaws from the West mission
In the Outlaws from the West mission of Red Dead Redemption 2, players face several key challenges:
-
Take No Damage During the Shootout: This requires staying in cover and avoiding exposure during the gunfight at Adler Ranch. Using Dead Eye can help take out enemies quickly and accurately.
-
Loot 6 or More Items from Adler Ranch: Players must thoroughly search the Adler House and surrounding areas to collect at least six items, including food, medicine, and other supplies.
-
Complete with at Least 80% Accuracy: To achieve this, players should only shoot when they have a clear and sure shot, indicated by a red reticle. This ensures high accuracy and conserves ammo.
These challenges are crucial for achieving a Gold Medal in the mission.
What strategies can help complete the mission with no damage taken
To complete the Outlaws from the West mission in Red Dead Redemption 2 with no damage taken, consider these strategies:
-
Stay in Cover: Always use available cover to protect Arthur Morgan from enemy fire. This includes rocks, trees, and buildings.
-
Use Dead Eye: Activate Dead Eye to slow down time and accurately take out enemies before they can return fire. This ability is crucial for avoiding damage.
-
Keep Moving: Don’t stay in one spot for too long, as this can make you an easy target. Keep moving between covers to avoid being hit.
-
Avoid Unnecessary Engagements: If possible, avoid engaging enemies unless necessary. This can help minimize the risk of taking damage.
-
Use Stealth: If the situation allows, try to sneak past enemies or take them out silently before they alert others.
-
Keep an Eye on Health: Monitor Arthur’s health and use tonics or food to heal if necessary, though ideally, you should avoid taking damage altogether.
These strategies can help you navigate the mission without taking damage, which is essential for achieving a Gold Medal.
