Unlock the Secrets of Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree: Discover How to Open the Mysterious Passage Behind the Headless Statue
In the vast and enigmatic world of Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree, hidden passages and secret areas await the bravest adventurers. One of the most intriguing puzzles lies behind a headless statue in the Shadow Keep, guarding the entrance to the mystical Hinterlands. To unlock this passage, players must first uncover the elusive “O Mother” gesture, hidden deep within Bonny Village. Join us on a journey through ancient ruins and mysterious landscapes as we reveal the steps to unlock this secret path and uncover the mysteries that lie beyond.
How to get to the statue chamber?
To reach the statue chamber in the Shadow Keep, you must first navigate to the northern part of the castle. Begin by ascending to the top of the Specimen Warehouse, a multi-story location filled with dangerous enemies. Once you reach the seventh floor, proceed through a platform section on wooden beams, then head to a stone balcony with shelves. From there, take an elevator to the stairs above, and then another elevator that will take you several floors down. After sliding down, activate the nearby Site of Grace and proceed through a short corridor to the right, which will lead you to the headless statue.
Before you get to solving the puzzle of the headless statue in the Shadow Keep, you must acquire the O Mother gesture. More information on how to obtain it can be found on the page: Where to find the O Mother gesture?
The chamber you are looking for is located in the northern part of the Shadow Keep castle. To get to the chamber, you will need to reach the very top of the Specimen Warehouse – a multi-story location full of dangerous enemies.
After reaching the highest, seventh floor (where a Site of Grace is located), you will need to get through a platform section on wooden beams leading even higher. Be careful, because the high-slung paths are quite narrow and there are a lot of enemies (including flying ones) in the area who can easily knock you off the edge.
After reaching the stone balcony with shelves, go out into the open space and head to the elevator car. It will take you to the stairs above.
Take the stairs until you reach another elevator. Step onto the platform that will take you several floors down.
How to open the passage behind the statue?
To open the passage behind the headless statue in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC for Elden Ring, you first need to acquire the O Mother gesture. This gesture can be found in Bonny Village, located east of Moorth Ruins. Once you have the gesture, head to the Shadow Keep and navigate to the Back Gate Site of Grace. From there, go north and find the side passage leading to a headless statue of Marika. Stand in front of the statue and use the O Mother gesture. This will cause the statue to move, revealing a hidden passage that leads to the Hinterlands.
After sliding down, activate the Site of Grace there. The gate ahead will take you to an open space, but we are currently more interested in what is in the corridor to the right of the Site of Grace.
A short corridor will finally lead you to the statue we are looking for. Stand in front of the statue and then select the O Mother gesture you collected earlier from the shortcut menu. If you don’t have it currently “equipped”, you can quickly activate it after using the “Swap” option in one of the gesture slots.
Using the gesture directly in front of the headless statue will force it to move. A new path will open for you.
What other secrets can be found in the Hinterlands
In the Hinterlands of Elden Ring, several secrets await discovery. Here are a few notable ones:
-
Hidden Path Behind the Statue: Using the “O Mother” gesture near a headless statue in the Shadow Keep reveals a hidden path leading to the Hinterlands of Scaduview. This area features verdant landscapes and unique points of interest, including the Blessing of Marika and the Minor Erdtree incantation.
-
Shaman Village and Legendary Incantation: In Scaduview, explore the abandoned Shaman Village, the birthplace of Marika, where you can find a sapling with the Minor Erdtree incantation. This area is rich in lore and offers a glimpse into the game’s mystical world.
-
Fallingstar Beast Encounter: Near the Hinterland Bridge Site of Grace, investigate a large crater to summon the Fallingstar Beast. Defeating this formidable foe rewards you with the Gravitational Missile sorcery.
In contrast, the Hinterlands in Dragon Age: Inquisition offer different secrets:
-
Hidden Alcove and Valammar Dungeon: Find a secret alcove behind a waterfall south of Lake Luthias to unlock the Valammar dungeon area.
-
Mosaic Pieces and Runes: Collect mosaic pieces and runes scattered throughout the Hinterlands, which contribute to various collections and enhance gameplay.
-
Cheese Easter Eggs: Explore Crestwood to find random cheese wheels and the “Wedge of Destiny” cheese shield.
What is the significance of the shed in the Hinterlands
The significance of the shed in the Hinterlands varies depending on the context:
-
In the Minotaur Hotel Game: The shed in the Hinterlands is a pivotal location tied to mysterious events and rituals. It is associated with P’s magic and rituals involving feathers. The scene at the shed is cryptic and intense, hinting at dark themes and possibly connected to missing children. It adds to the game’s mysterious atmosphere and lore, leaving much to interpretation.
-
In Real-World Hinterlands: Sheds in real-world hinterlands, such as those in rural Victoria or the Sunshine Coast, are often part of rustic accommodations or community hubs. For example, “The Shed” in Wensleydale, Victoria, is a rustic accommodation, while the Glasshouse Men’s Shed serves as a community hub for mental health support.
-
In Elden Ring: There is no specific mention of a shed in the Hinterlands of Elden Ring. Instead, the focus is on uncovering hidden paths and secrets, such as the passage behind the headless statue, which requires the “O Mother” gesture.
