Where can you first meet Thiollier and Moore?

In the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC for Elden Ring, you can first meet Thiollier near the Pillar Path Cross Site of Grace in the Gravesite Plain. This location is accessible before heading to Castle Ensis by crossing Ellac Greatbridge and taking the road south. On the other hand, Moore is initially encountered at the Main Gate Cross Site of Grace, near Belurat, Tower Settlement. Here, Moore serves as a vendor offering various items and shares his connection to Lady Leda. Meeting both characters early on is crucial for progressing through their respective questlines, which intertwine with each other and other events in the DLC.

Thiollier is located at the Site of Grace called Pillar Path Cross. The quickest way to get there is to start your hike from Castle Ensis. Follow the main road and then turn left, heading towards the forest.

In turn, you will find Moore at the Site of Grace called Main Gate Cross, at the entrance to Belurat. The quickest way will be to start your journey from the Three-Path Cross.

Conversation with Thiollier and Moore

To begin Thiollier’s questline in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, you first need to speak with him at the Pillar Path Cross in the Gravesite Plain. Following this, head to the Main Gate Cross outside Belurat to meet Moore. Speak with Moore to receive the Black Syrup, which you should then bring back to Thiollier. After giving Thiollier the Black Syrup, select the option “I’m weary of life” to receive Thiollier’s Concoction. This interaction sets the stage for Thiollier’s journey to find St. Trina, which involves exploring the Stone Coffin Fissure and eventually reaching the Garden of Deep Purple. Moore’s involvement is crucial as his dialogue and items are intertwined with Thiollier’s quest, highlighting the interconnected nature of these characters’ storylines in the DLC.

First, go to Thiollier and talk to him. He will tell you that he is good at poisons, thanks to which you will unlock him as a merchant. Clear his dialogue lines and go to Moore.

Talk and exhaust all of Moore’s dialogue options. Thanks to this, you will receive BlackSyrup. Go to Thiollier again and give him the syrup. He will use this ingredient to create Thiollier’s Concoction. You don’t have to drink it! If you do this, your character will simply die.

Somewhere a Great Rune has broken

In the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC for Elden Ring, the message “Somewhere, a great rune has broken” signals a pivotal moment in the storyline. This event occurs when Miquella abandons his Great Rune, a step in his quest to divest himself of his body and powers to become a god. Triggered by entering specific areas like Shadow Keep, Rauh Base, or beyond Bonny Village, this event unlocks new regions and affects NPC interactions. Notably, it allows access to the Stone Coffin Fissure, crucial for Thiollier’s questline, and changes NPC dialogues and movements. This shift impacts the loyalty and actions of various characters, influencing the overall narrative progression.

After you go to the place indicated in the photo, after a while you should hear a strange, loud sound and information “Somewhere a Great Rune has broken” appearing on the screen. This event is automatic and will significantly affect the behavior of NPCs, especially Thiollier and Moore.

What to tell Moore?

When interacting with Moore, particularly after breaking Miquella’s charm, you will be presented with a choice: to tell him to “put it behind you” or “remain sad forever.” This decision affects Moore’s subsequent actions and location. If you choose “put it behind you,” Moore will move on and relocate. If you select “remain sad forever,” he will stay in his current location, reflecting his ongoing sorrow. This choice does not significantly impact the overall quest progression but influences Moore’s character development and final whereabouts.

When you go to Moore again and talk to him, you will be faced with a moral choice. You will be able to tell him to be forever sad or to leave everything behind and be happy.

  1. Leave it behindMoore will take part in the fight against you alongside Leda in Enir-Ilim. By killing him, you will receive his equipment.

  1. Stay sad foreverMoore will go to another place – north of the Church of the Crusade. You will find his body in the indicated place, along with the entire set of equipment.

Despite the different choices, in both cases for completing his task you will receive a Verdigris set, including a large Verdigris shield and Moore’s Bell Bearing.

Journey to the south in search of Thiollier

To begin your journey in search of Thiollier, head to the Pillar Path Cross site of grace in the Gravesite Plain. This location is accessible by crossing the Ellac Greatbridge and navigating through the Messmer soldier camp in front of Castle Ensis. Once there, you’ll find Thiollier sitting next to a Miquella Cross. Speak with him to initiate his questline, which is deeply intertwined with the mysterious St. Trina. After your conversation, Thiollier will eventually move to the Stone Coffin Fissure in search of St. Trina, located at the southern tip of the Cerulean Coast. Here, you’ll need to navigate through the fissure, fight the Putrescent Knight, and reach the Garden of Deep Purple to find both Thiollier and St. Trina.

After the Great Rune breaks and you defeat the Golden Hippopotamus (more about this boss can be found on this page of our guide), you go to Thiollier, he will tell you that he intends to go to the south coast in search of St. Trina. Of course, we are talking about the Cerulean Coast (if you don’t know how to get to this area, see the guide page titled How to get to the southern edge of the map?).

After you exhaust his dialogues and he disappears from his usual location, go to the southern edge of the Cerulean Coast. There you will notice a largehole. You can get down by jumping onto lower and lower levels of platforms. When you succeed, you will reach the Site of Grace called, Stone Coffin Fissure.

From there you must go to the Site of Grace called Garde of Deep Purple. You will get there after defeating boss Putrescent Knight.

How to make St. Trina talk?

To make St. Trina talk, you must interact with her in the Garden of Deep Purple. Initially, she will not speak, but you will have the option to “imbibe nectar.” Doing so will kill your character, but you will respawn at a nearby Site of Grace. You need to repeat this process four times. After the fourth time, St. Trina will begin speaking to you in the darkness. To fully exhaust her dialogue, you should imbibe the nectar a few more times. This process is crucial for progressing both St. Trina’s and Thiollier’s questlines in the Elden Ring DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree.

Next to Gardn of Deep Purple there is the entrance to the cave where St. Trina and drowsy Thiollier reside. Talk to Thiollier first and then approach St. Trina.

By interacting with St. Trina, you will be able to drink her nectar. When you do this, your character will die, however, you will have to do it at least 4 times to continue the quest. If you have any runes on you, then remember to pick them up!

The fourth time you will finally hear the voice of St. Trina. You can tell Thiollier what you heard. When this happens, drink the nectar again to hear St. Trina’s new dialogue lines. Talk to Thiollier again and tell him what you heard. The next time you drink the nectar, Thiollier will attack you.

He mainly uses perfume bottles to attack, aiming to poison you. Keep your distance as he sprays the poison around him. Other than that, you shouldn’t have any problem defeating him.

After defeating Thiollier, you will receive St. Trina’s Smile talisman, which increases damage after someone falls asleep nearby. Enter the cave again, talk to the wounded Thiollier and complete his dialogue.

The last thing you need to do is burn the scadutree, then go to Enir-Illim and fight Leda and her allies. Summon Thiollier to this fight to get his set of equipment after the final boss battle.

Final rewards

Completing the questlines for St. Trina, Thiollier, and other NPCs in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree yields significant rewards. For St. Trina’s quest, players receive St. Trina’s Blossom, a unique helm offering high Vitality and Focus, along with a boost to max FP. Thiollier’s questline rewards players with Thiollier’s Armor and the ability to summon him for crucial battles. Additionally, completing Moore’s and other NPC questlines can provide valuable armor sets and weapons, such as those associated with Sir Ansbach and Hornsent, making these quests well worth the effort for dedicated players2.

After completing the expansion and defeating the final boss, you can return to his arena, i.e. to the Site of Grace – Gate of Divinity. If you do that, you will find Thiollier’s body. Approach him and pick up the prize. This will be Thiollier’s Set and a weaponThiollier’s Hidden Needle.

This body, depending on how you completed the quest for Thiollier and other NPCs, can also be found in another place, namely in the arena where you fought Leda and her allies.

What are the key challenges in the St. Trina questline

The St. Trina questline in Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC presents several key challenges:

  1. Accessing the Stone Coffin Fissure: The area is initially inaccessible until Miquella’s Great Rune is broken, which happens when you reach Shadow Keep or cross the bridge east of Bonny Village.

  2. Navigating the Stone Coffin Fissure: Players must progress through this challenging area, culminating in a jump off a statue’s head to reach the Garden of Deep Purple.

  3. Defeating the Putrescent Knight: This boss fight is a significant hurdle before reaching St. Trina.

  4. Interacting with St. Trina: The quest involves repeatedly imbibing her nectar, which results in instant death. This must be done multiple times to exhaust her dialogue.

  5. Managing Thiollier’s Questline: Thiollier’s involvement adds complexity, as his devotion to St. Trina can lead to hostile interactions if not handled carefully.

  6. Completing the DLC: The questline concludes after defeating the final boss and returning to find St. Trina’s body, allowing you to collect her Blossom.

What happens if you don’t drink the nectar for St. Trina

If you choose not to drink St. Trina’s nectar in Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, nothing will happen in terms of immediate consequences. However, this decision will stall both St. Trina’s and Thiollier’s questlines. You won’t be able to progress their stories further until you decide to imbibe the nectar. Additionally, if you reach the penultimate fight of the main story without drinking the nectar, Thiollier will disappear, and you will miss out on his quest ending.

Imbibing the nectar is crucial for advancing the questline, as it allows you to hear St. Trina’s voice and eventually pass on her words to Thiollier, which is necessary for completing his quest. Each time you drink the nectar, you will die, but you will respawn at the nearby Site of Grace with your runes intact.
