Where to go to Cerulean Coast?

To reach the Cerulean Coast in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, start at the Castle Front Site of Grace near Castle Ensis. Head southeast past enemy camps into a poison swamp, then follow a northern trail leading to a riverbed. Navigate through the Ellac River Cave, carefully platform downstream past waterfalls, and activate the Ellac River Downstream Site of Grace. Continue along the river, avoiding enemies like the Furnace Golem, until you find a path leading to the Cerulean Coast Site of Grace. The journey is challenging but rewards you with stunning scenery and valuable items like the Southern Shore Map Fragment.

Castle Front is the ideal starting location for going to the Cerulean Coast, i.e. the Site of Grace located in front of the stone steps leading to Castle Ensis. The checkpoint is located in the middle of a camp full of enemies, so be careful here.

Head south-east, following the path leading down between the palisades. Along the way, you will encounter several single opponents.

When you reach a fork, take the road to the left and downhill. When passing under the huge rock arch, watch out for large enemies armed with clubs.

A moment later you will reach a swampy area. Coming into contact with water will cause you to become poisoned. So try to keep it to a minimum. We recommend that you stick to the passage above the cliff, with the swamps on your left.

While traveling down, head north-west. Along the way, you will encounter groups of small enemies. They look inconspicuous, but their projectiles cause poisoning upon hit, and a large group can quickly corner your character. Try to eliminate them as quickly as you can.

At the end of the path you will come across a shallow reservoir and an a tunnel entrance. It is guarded by a giant crab and a plant that shoots glowing projectiles. The crustacean and the deadly flower can easily kill you, so approach them with caution (or just run past them).

Enter the tunnel that will lead you to the Ellac River’s bed.

Ellac River

The Ellac River serves as a crucial pathway to the Cerulean Coast in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree. Starting from the Castle Front Site of Grace near Castle Ensis, players must navigate through a poison swamp and follow a winding path north to reach the Ellac River Cave. Inside the cave, you’ll find the Ellac River Cave Site of Grace, marking the beginning of a challenging descent. The journey involves careful platforming along waterfalls and rock pillars to avoid fatal falls, eventually leading to the Ellac River Downstream Site of Grace. From there, players must bypass a Furnace Golem and continue downstream to finally emerge at the Cerulean Coast, one of the DLC’s most stunning yet perilous locations.

Head south-west through the rocky tunnel. Before leaving the cave, you will encounter a Site of Grace, which is worth activating immediately.

After exiting the tunnel, keep heading left (south) until you reach a waterfall.

To get further, you’ll have to carefully walk on the stone pillars leading south. We definitely recommend doing this while riding Torrent.

After reaching lower, continue your journey along the riverbed. When you encounter bird statues on your way, be careful. Some of them are actually flying enemies who will attack you when you get close.

After another series of jumps on rocky platforms, you will finally reach another waterfall and an open, exposed area. However, before you go further, activate the Site of Grace right in front of the waterfall.

Carefully go down the stone ledges to the right of the waterfall. While your mount, jump onto the fallen stone pillar and use it to get to the left bank of the river below.

Cerulean Coast

The Cerulean Coast in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is a breathtaking yet challenging destination that lies south of the starting area in the DLC. To reach it, begin at the Castle Front Site of Grace near Castle Ensis and venture southeast past enemy camps into a poison swamp. Navigate north through a trail leading to the Ellac River Cave, and carefully descend downstream using Torrent to traverse waterfalls and rocky platforms. Passing through the Ellac River Downstream Site of Grace, follow the riverbed past the Furnace Golem and ascend a trail lined with blue flowers to finally arrive at the Cerulean Coast. Be prepared for encounters with formidable foes like the Ghostflame Dragon and explore for treasures like map fragments and unique gear.

There’s basically a small open space separating you from the target region. On the open plateau, head towards the southwest corner where there is a passage. Unfortunately, the path goes through the area where a huge, burning Golem lives. This is a powerful opponent that you don’t want to fight unprepared. However, if you are riding Torrent, you are able to sneak past him. Just watch out for the fire attacks that the golem will try to hit you with.

After passing under the rock arch, you will finally reach the desired region. First, we recommend that you activate the Site of Grace at the entrance to the area. Then you can go to the place marked on the map above. There you will find a fragment that will unlock a large part of the map for you. Be careful, because there is a dragon in the middle of the large clearing.

How to get to the Fissure

To reach The Fissure in Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, begin at the Cerulean Coast Site of Grace. Head west and then south along the peninsula, navigating past hostile creatures like blue worms and a troll throwing pots from afar. Continue toward a ruined wall where you’ll find the Fissure Site of Grace. If the barrier marked with Miquella’s emblem is present, ensure you’ve triggered the “great rune has broken” message by exploring key areas such as Shadow Keep. Once the barrier is removed, jump into the large hole ahead, carefully descending via ledges while avoiding slimes. At the bottom, you’ll enter the eerie purple-lit world of The Fissure and find its Site of Grace1.

At the southern end of the Cerulean Coast, on a small promontory, The Fissure is waiting for you – a characteristic location leading to an undersea cave system. You will reach the entrance to the Fissure by riding south. Head towards the peninsula.

The only major threat on the route (apart from the previously mentioned dragon) will be the troll guarding the narrowing on the peninsula. He will notice you from a distance and start throwing jugs at you. However, the projectiles are quite easy to dodge, just like the enemy himself.

What are the most challenging parts of reaching the Cerulean Coast

Reaching the Cerulean Coast in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree involves navigating through several challenging areas. Here are some of the most difficult parts of the journey:

  1. Navigating the Poisonous Swamp and Demi-Human Militiamen:

    • After starting from the Castle Front Site of Grace, you’ll encounter a poisonous swamp area. Demi-human militiamen in this region can be particularly dangerous, as they throw poison bombs and wield large scythes that can cause blood loss.

  2. Parkouring Down Waterfalls:

    • The path involves traversing the Ellac River, which requires careful parkouring down waterfalls by jumping between rock pillars. This can be tricky and requires precise timing to avoid falling.

  3. Avoiding the Furnace Golem:

    • Near the Ellac River Downstream Site of Grace, you’ll encounter a Furnace Golem. This powerful enemy can be challenging to defeat, so it’s often safer to dodge its attacks while sticking to the right side of the river.

  4. Steep Slopes and Hidden Paths:

    • The journey involves navigating steep slopes and finding hidden paths, such as the route under the rocks near Castle Ensis. These areas can be easy to miss if not carefully explored.

  5. Encountering Various Enemies:

    • Along the way, you’ll encounter various enemies like Grave Birds, bats, and giant crabs, which can be hazardous if not managed properly6.

What are the best routes to avoid danger while reaching the Cerulean Coast

To safely reach the Cerulean Coast in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree while minimizing danger, follow these recommended routes and strategies:

  1. Ellac River Route:

    • Start at the Castle Front Site of Grace near Castle Ensis and head southeast past enemy camps to the poison swamp. Stick to the left side to avoid direct confrontations with enemies like Vulgar Militia and Demi-Human Militiamen.

    • Enter the cave behind the Giant Poison Plant to access the Ellac River Cave Site of Grace. This bypasses many surface threats.

  2. Navigating Waterfalls:

    • Carefully parkour down rock pillars along the Ellac River instead of jumping directly off waterfalls. Use Torrent’s double jump for precision and hug the cliff walls to avoid falling into pits.

  3. Avoiding the Furnace Golem:

    • At the Ellac River Downstream Site of Grace, stick to the thin strip of land on the right-hand side of the river to bypass the Furnace Golem without engaging in combat. Alternatively, veer east and use nearby terrain for cover.

  4. Final Approach:

    • After passing the Golem, look for a rocky archway leading west into a forested path. This trail safely guides you to the Cerulean Coast while avoiding ambushes from enemies like Ghostflame Dragons until you’re prepared.

By following these steps, you can avoid most hazards while reaching this stunning yet perilous destination.
