How do I get the first map?

The man selling the map can be found at the Dakota River. He will stand upstairs and offer you a map for $5. If you scared him off or killed him, he will not be there.

You can also buy the map from the Fence. It costs about a dollar there.

The First Map

The first map will direct you to the next one. To get it, you have to go to Caliban’s Seat. This place is under Valentine.

To get the map you must first climb up the very top. The road is not as steep as it seems – you can freely run on it.

At the top, turn left. There is a path which you can take to easily descend to the rock shelf.

Be careful not to slip off the rock shelf. On your way there will be a larger rock, go over it to the other side.

At the end of the rock shelf, you will find a small hole in the rock. Search it and you will find the next map.

The Second Map

The second map will direct you to Cotorra Springs.

In this area, you will find several large rocks. There is a hole in one of them. Search it and take the next map out of it.

The Third Map and Prize

The third map will take you to O’Creagh’s Run. This place is located in Grizzlies East.

In the middle of the lake, there is a small rocky island, swim to it.

What other treasure maps are available in Red Dead Redemption 2

In Red Dead Redemption 2, several treasure maps are available for players to explore and solve. Here are some of the notable ones:

  • High Stakes Treasure Maps: These maps involve a series of clues leading to hidden treasures. The first map is obtained by robbing or looting an elderly treasure hunter at Lenora View, and subsequent maps are found by solving each previous one, leading to locations like Cumberland Falls and Barrow Lagoon.

  • Poisonous Trail Maps: The first map is found in Cairn Lodge, and solving it leads to Face Rock in Scarlett Meadows. Each map solved reveals the next location, culminating in a final treasure.

  • Torn Treasure Maps: These require players to defeat two hermits, one north of Annesburg and the other northwest of Wallace Station. The combined map leads to Rattlesnake Hollow, where players can find Otis Miller’s Revolver and other items.

  • Landmarks of Riches Maps: This series involves finding landmarks across the map, starting at the Mysterious Hill Home and ending at Mount Shann, with rewards like gold bars.

  • Sketched Map: Found in Reed Cottage north of Annesburg, this map leads to a treasure near the Kamassa River.

  • Elemental Trail Maps: Available in the Epilogue, these maps involve solving puzzles related to elements, leading to various rewards.

Each of these treasure maps offers unique challenges and rewards, adding depth to the game’s exploration and adventure.

What is the best strategy to solve the High Stakes Treasure Map

To efficiently solve the High Stakes Treasure Map in Red Dead Redemption 2, follow these strategic steps:

  1. Acquire the First Map:

    • Look for a treasure hunter during a random encounter near New Hanover or Strawberry. He will flee when approached, so hogtie or rob him to obtain the first map34.

  2. Locate Cumberland Falls:

    • Travel east of Wallace Station in West Elizabeth. Follow the path along the eastern side of the falls, cross the log behind the waterfall, and retrieve the second map hidden in a cave4.

  3. Find Barrow Lagoon:

    • Head northwest of Valentine to Barrow Lagoon, a frozen lake in the West Grizzlies. Look for a log bridge on a small stone island in the lake and find the third map inside a hole in the log4.

  4. Navigate to Fort Wallace:

    • The final treasure is located on a mountain southwest of Bacchus Station and northwest of Fort Wallace. Ignore instructions about passing through two peaks; instead, ascend an unmarked road northeast of Fort Wallace. Carefully follow the treacherous cliffside path, crouching when necessary, and drop down ledges until you reach an overhanging rock where three gold bars are hidden34.

Selling these gold bars at a Fence will earn you $1,500, making this treasure hunt highly rewarding!
