How to start a Hunting Request?

After starting the second chapter of Red Dead Redemption 2, you can find Hunting Requests. They are in post offices or train stations in Valentine, Rhodes, Strawberry, Saint Denis, Van Horn, and Armadillo. A Hunting Request is always the same, regardless of the place in which you found it.

These hunts are part of “A Better World, A New Friend” mission. You have to complete 5 Hunting Requests. Only one request can be active at a time.

To start a Hunting Request, you have to approach a poster and read it. You can focus on the request or leave it after you are done with the main storyline.

This mission consists of five requests. Each one of them requires you to hunt different animals.

What are the best strategies for obtaining perfect animal carcasses

To obtain perfect animal carcasses in Red Dead Redemption 2, follow these strategies:

1. Target Three-Star Animals

  • Only three-star (pristine) animals can yield perfect carcasses. Use your binoculars to study animals and identify their star rating.

2. Use the Correct Weapon

  • Match your weapon to the animal’s size:

    • Small animals (e.g., squirrels, birds): Use small game arrows.

    • Medium animals (e.g., rabbits, raccoons): Use the Varmint Rifle.

    • Large animals (e.g., deer, boars): Use repeaters or rifles.

    • Massive animals (e.g., bears, alligators): Use high-powered rifles.

3. Aim for Weak Points

  • Achieve a perfect kill with a single shot to vital areas like the head or heart. The final Dead Eye upgrade highlights these weak points, making precision easier.

4. Use Baits and Traps

  • Herbivore and Predator Baits can lure animals to specific locations. Potent Herbivore Baits are particularly effective but must be crafted using Vanilla Flower, Violet Snowdrop, and Bay Bolete.

5. Exploit Save and Reload Mechanics

  • If you can’t find a three-star animal, save your game manually and reload it. This forces the game to spawn at least one three-star animal in the area.

6. Craft the Legendary Buck Antler Trinket

  • Hunt the Legendary Buck and craft its antler trinket to increase the quality of carcasses and pelts from all kills.

7. Timing and Locations

  • Some animals only spawn at specific times or locations:

    • For nocturnal creatures like opossums or bats, hunt at night.

    • Explore caves, riversides, or forests depending on the species.

By combining these techniques, you can efficiently secure perfect carcasses for Hunting Requests and other challenges in the game.

What are the best locations to find three-star rated animals

To find three-star rated animals in Red Dead Redemption 2, consider the following locations:

  • Scarlett Meadows: This area is known for frequent three-star buck and deer spawns, particularly from the stables down towards Emerald Station.

  • The Heartlands: Offers a good mix of wildlife, making it a prime spot for hunting three-star animals.

  • Little Creek River: Known for its abundance of animals, increasing the chances of finding three-star creatures.

  • Bayou Nwa: Between Lakay and Copperhead Landing, this area has a high rate of three-star spawns. The snowy conditions in Spiders Gorge near Colter also make tracking easier.

  • The Great Plains: Rich in three-star deer, bucks, pronghorn, and bighorn sheep, with fewer hunters, making it a more peaceful hunting experience.

  • Big Valley: Often described as a hunting paradise, it’s easy to fill your hunting wagon with three-star bucks here.

  • Ambarino: Known for its abundance of sheep and deer, offering opportunities for three-star kills.
