Mission walkthrough: Talk to Dutch in the camp. Then go with Charles to look for a new camp site. The man will ask you if you prefer to get to the place by boat or on horseback. The choice is of little importance, so choose whatever suits you more – I personally recommend a horse, because you will still have to reach the cave anyway after getting off the boar.

Eventually, you will come across two Murfree’s in the forest. Approach one of them and kill him with a knife. Get closer to the hill now, you’ll have a choice, this time a more important one – whether you want to enter the cave quietly, or use dynamite to smoke out your enemies.

Personally, I recommend using dynamite, because it will be easier for you to score more headshots, and even the “quiet path” will end with a shootout. Select dynamite and throw it into the cave entrance. Then kill the enemies who start to flee from the cave.

Now you have to go inside and take care of the rest of the bandits. It’s best to use a rifle for this job and just take them out as they come. You have to score 15 headshots in order to get the gold medal in this mission.

When you clear the cave of enemies, approach the cage and free Meredith. You must take the woman to her home village. If you’re aiming for gold, try to find a shortcut through the woods. But be careful not to get caught on the tree, because a fall will make you lose a few precious seconds.

When you reach the mission, a cut-scene will await you. The mission and the next chapter of RDR2 will end.

How to get the gold medal in That’s Murfree Country?

  • Bring Meredith to her mother in less than 2 minutes – If you stick to the road, you won’t make it in time. You have to make a shortcut through the forest, but beware of the trees!
  • Execute 15 headshots – It’s best to choose the dynamite variant and attack enemies using Dead Eye.
  • Complete with at least 85% accuracy – A classic challenge. For example, choose a shotgun and shoot at point blank when you are in the cave.
  • Complete the mission without using items that restore your health.

What strategies can help achieve a Gold Medal in “That’s Murfree Country”

Achieving a Gold Medal in “That’s Murfree Country” requires careful planning and execution. Here are some strategies to help you succeed:

Strategies for a Gold Medal

  1. Deliver Meredith to Her Mother Within 2 Minutes:

    • Stick to the Road: Avoid taking shortcuts or going off-road, as this can slow you down. Stay on the main path to ensure you reach Annesburg quickly.

    • Use a Fast Horse: Ensure your horse is well-rested and has good stamina to maintain speed throughout the journey.

  2. Get 15 Headshots:

    • Use Dead Eye: Activate Dead Eye to slow down time and aim for headshots. This is particularly useful in the cave where enemies are densely packed.

    • Aim for Stationary Targets: Try to headshot enemies when they are stationary, as moving targets can be challenging.

  3. Maintain at Least 85% Accuracy:

    • Use Cover: Stay behind cover when engaging enemies to reduce the risk of taking damage and to improve your accuracy.

    • Aim Carefully: Take your time to aim before firing, especially when using Dead Eye.

  4. Complete the Mission Without Taking Any Health Items:

    • Stay in Cover: Use environmental cover to avoid taking damage from enemy fire.

    • Manage Combat: Engage enemies from a safe distance and use stealth when possible to minimize damage taken.

  5. Additional Tips:

    • Protect Charles: Ensure Charles stays alive during the mission, as his death results in failure.

    • Use Dynamite Strategically: While dynamite can be effective, it may not be ideal for maintaining headshot counts and accuracy. Consider sneaking instead.
