You activate them by pressing the button responsible for using skills. Spirit Ashes, on the other hand, are items that, when activated, summon spirit companions that will help you in combat.
While exploring Liurnia of the Lakes, you can come upon 14 Ashes of War and 18 Spirit Ashes.
Ashes of War – Ice Spear

This ash is a reward for completing a line of quests received from Bloody Finger Hunter Yura. To find Yura, defeat Flying Dragon Agheel and then travel to Seaside Ruins. Once you talk to Yura for the first time, he will change his location to Liurnia of the Lakes.
Next stop is the Main Academy Gate – a red summon sign should appear there. After activating it, you’ll be taken to Yura’s world – help him fight the invaders. After taking care of danger and returning back to your world, the ash will be yours.

Teleport to Manor Upper Level Site of Grace. From there, travel to the nearby arena that is the background to Royal Knight Loretta encounter. Stand in front of the arena entrance and look to the left – you’ll be able to descend via wooden footbridges.
Reach the bottom while keeping close to the right wall. After you see the walls of Manor, climb on them, as this is where Carian Grandeur is located.

To acquire these ashes, players must defeat the boss in the Lakeside Crystal Cave located in Liurnia of the Lakes, after which they can interact with Latenna at the Slumbering Wolf’s Shack. To get Latenna the Albinauric ash, you first have to have Haligtree Secret Medallion (Right) in your inventory. You can get it from an NPC turned into a jug found in VIllage of the Albinaurics.
Once you got it, travel to the marked area and access it from the side of the lake. You should encounter Lakeside Crystal Cave there. After defeating the boss and going deeper into the cave, you will find yourself in the Slumbering Wolf’s Shack. Talk to Latenna and accept her offer – she will dissapear, and you’re left with the ash.
Spirit Ashes – Black Knife Tiche

After you’ve finished the Ranni quest, go see Seluvis. You need to buy dolls to get the ashes (you need right amount of Starlight Shards). The store becomes available once you find AmberStarlight.
Travel toAltus Highway Junction Site of Grace. From there, go north, up, until you find yourself near a chasm. There are 3 small octopuses near the item. You can see it clearly thanks to its orange glow.
If you have the item, and have completed Ranni’s quest, you can buy dolls from Seluvis.
Spirit Ashes – Jarwight Puppet
