Fatherhood takes on a rugged twist in Red Dead Redemption 2’s “Fatherhood, for Beginners,” as John Marston grapples with ranch life and family bonds. From taming wild horses to teaching his son Jack the art of riding, this mission blends tender moments with high-stakes challenges, culminating in a thrilling race back to Pronghorn Ranch. Can John balance his outlaw past with his aspirations of fatherhood?
Walkthrough: Go to Duncan – the man tries to tame his new horse. Approach the animal, calm it down and feed it (one of the requirements for the gold medal). Time to tire out Jeremiah – get on the horse and start galloping. The fastest way to tire out the animal is to jump over obstacles a lot.
Go back to the farmstead. Observe Duncan riding on Jeremiah. Follow Mrs. Geddes to the barn. Help her with the horse labor. Go back to Jack and Abigail.
Take Jack for a ride – you can control your son’s speed. Let him ride with an average speed. Don’t let him gallop – Jack will fall off the horse.
The mission ends with a race. To win, you have to ride as fast as you can and stay on the road. At some point, John will go past a forest – turn left. You will make a shortcut, and win the race.
How to get a gold medal in Fatherhood, for Beginners?

- Feed Jeremiah a treat – Do that after you calm the animal down.
- Teach Jack to ride without his horse bucking him off – Jack should ride with an average speed – don’t let him gallop.
- Win the race back to Pronghorn Ranch – This part was described in our guide for RDR2.

-
Feeding Jeremiah a Treat: After calming Jeremiah, the player must feed him a treat to fulfill another Gold Medal requirement.
-

What makes Jeremiah such a challenging horse to tire out
Jeremiah, the horse in Red Dead Redemption 2, is challenging to tire out due to its high stamina and spirited nature. Players must strategically gallop and jump over obstacles within a limited time frame, requiring precise control and timing. This task tests the player’s ability to manage the horse’s energy efficiently while maintaining speed and direction.
