Fog Rift Catacombs

The Fog Rift Catacombs is a challenging dungeon introduced in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC for Elden Ring. Located in the southeast Rauh Ruins region, this dungeon is filled with treacherous enemies and deadly traps, including spiked ceilings that require precise timing to navigate. Players can access the catacombs by heading northwest from the Castle Front Site of Grace, passing through a valley filled with fog. The dungeon offers several valuable rewards, such as the Death Knight’s Twin Axes, Crimson Amber Medallion +3, and the Stone-Sheathed Sword, which can be transformed into the Sword of Light or Sword of Darkness. Defeating the final boss, the Death Knight, is crucial to obtaining these items.

You can visit these catacombs as first out of 3 available ones. Head north from Castle Ensis. The path marked in screenshot 1 leads past Fog Rift Fort – you don’t have to fight the enemies there and you can escape from them. Approach the catacombs from the south and find the entrance in the forest.

In the catacombs, apart from the enemies, watch out for spike traps. Interestingly, you can jump on some traps and use them to reach the upper rooms. At the end of the catacombs there is an optional boss Death Knight to defeat.

Darklight Catacombs

The Darklight Catacombs is a mysterious and optional dungeon located in the Scadu Altus region of the Elden Ring DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree. This labyrinthine area is characterized by its pervasive darkness, requiring players to equip torches or lanterns for navigation. Inside, adventurers will encounter various enemies, including imps and a formidable boss named Jori, Elder Inquisitor. The catacombs serve as a crucial passageway to the Abyssal Woods, rewarding those who brave its depths with unique items like the Bigmouth Imp Ashes and the Lizard Greatsword. Players must solve environmental puzzles and defeat foes to illuminate their path and ultimately conquer this shadowy realm.

Reaching and passing through these catacombs is required to unlock the Abyssal Woods region – the walkthrough is described in detail on a separate page of our guide, titled How to reach the Abyssal Woods?. You must start in the lower part of Scadu Altus and head south along the Hermit River. The path branches at some point and you can reach the entrance to the catacombs in two different ways.

The unique feature of these catacombs is the omnipresent darkness. You can illuminate the surroundings using your equipment or look for levers to illuminate subsequent rooms – this will make navigation easier. Boss Jori, Elder Inquisitor is waiting at the end of the catacombs – this fight is described in the Bosses chapter.

Scorpion River Catacombs

The Scorpion River Catacombs are an optional dungeon in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC for Elden Ring, located in the Rauh Ruins region. To access this area, players must navigate through the gorge between Scadu Altus and Rauh Ruins, starting north of Moorth Ruins. The catacombs offer a variety of loot, including Grave Glovewort, Ghost Glovewort, Rejuvenating Boluses, and the Cerulean Amber Medallion +3. Enemies within the catacombs include Stone Imps, Undead Spellcasters, and Basilisks, with no major boss fight required to enter. The dungeon is accessible early in the expansion without needing to defeat any bosses, making it a valuable resource for players seeking additional items and resources.

The entrance to these catacombs is in the northwestern part of the map, under the Ancient Ruins of Rauh region. Start southeast of the catacombs at the Site of Grace called Temple Town Ruins. Follow the Scorpion River north, then turn west and south.

The most serious threat in these catacombs is the Death Blight debuff on the character. When the “curse” bar fills up, it means instant death. Avoid staying in the field of view of enemies applying this effect for too long and rely on sprinting and covers. At the end of the catacombs there is an optional boss Death Knight to defeat.

Ancient Ruins of Rauh

The Ancient Ruins of Rauh is a significant region in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC for Elden Ring, located north of Gravesite Plain and west of Scadu Altus. This area is characterized by its flooded, overgrown landscape, split into two sections by a chasm. Accessing the entire region requires navigating through the Shadow Keep. Notable locations include the Church of the Bud and the Tower of Shadow. The ruins are divided into upper and lower areas, each accessed differently, with the lower area accessible via Scadu Altus and the upper area reached through the Shadow Keep. Key sub-locations include Temple Town Ruins, Taylew’s Ruined Forge, and the Scorpion River Catacombs, offering various dungeons, bosses, and valuable loot.

This is a large region in the northwestern part of the map. You can get there from the Shadow Keep, choosing to travel along the western walls. This will take you to the Site of Grace called the Viaduct Minor Tower, shown on the picture.

In the northern and western parts of the region you will find numerous entrances to underground locations. They can be multi-level and, in addition, in some of them you will find elevators that help you explore them in 100%.

Passing through the Ancient Ruins of Rauh is also required to reach the western location called Church of the Bud, where you must defeat a story boss and complete an activity related to the main plot.

Belurat Gaol

Belurat Gaol is an optional dungeon in the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion of Elden Ring, located in the Gravesite Plain. This area is crucial for completing Thiollier’s questline and offers unique lore insights into the world of Elden Ring.

This is a very large underground location, the entrance to which is at the southern end of Cerulean Coast. Initially, the entrance to the dungeon is blocked by a magical barrier. You can automatically lift it after you first approach Shadow Keep in the northern part of the map.

Inside, players will face the Red Bear, a formidable boss that drops the Red Bear’s Claw and the Iron Rivet Set upon defeat. This mausoleum, like others, offers a straightforward path to the boss fight without complex puzzles or additional enemies.

This cave is crucial for accessing the coast and is reached by following a winding path from the Castle Front Site of Grace near Castle Ensis, then heading west past a vibrant Miranda Blossom and entering a narrow tunnel at the base of a cliff.

However, nearby locations like the Ellac River Cave offer Revered Spirit Ashes, accessible by navigating through poison swamps and past notable landmarks such as a huge crab on a lake.
