Talking with Yenna
In Baldur’s Gate 3, the character Yenna introduces a compelling narrative twist as players navigate the complexities of Act 3 in Rivington. Initially appearing as a vulnerable young girl seeking help to find her missing mother, Yenna’s story quickly intertwines with darker themes, particularly her connection to Orin the Red, a shapeshifting antagonist. Players face a critical decision: whether to invite Yenna and her cat Grub into their camp, which may seem like an act of kindness but carries significant risks. Allowing her to stay could lead to dire consequences, including her potential kidnapping by Orin, who may use her as a pawn in a larger scheme. This choice reflects the broader moral dilemmas in the game, challenging players to weigh compassion against the ever-present threat of betrayal.
You start the act on a mountain path – move forward.
You will come across a redhead girl with whom a cutscene will start. You can ignore her or offer help – if you agree to help her, she will temporarily join your camp.
Talking with refugees
In Rivington, players encounter a diverse array of refugees seeking safety from the chaos unleashed by the Absolute’s army. Engaging with these characters reveals their struggles and the harsh realities they face, often leading to poignant dialogues that highlight their desperation and resilience. As players navigate through Rivington, they can choose to assist these refugees, which may involve confronting local powers or uncovering hidden truths about their plight. This interaction not only enriches the narrative but also allows players to shape their journey through moral choices that resonate with the overarching themes of survival and community in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Move on until you reach the refugee arguing with the mighty. The dialogue will conduct itself.
You can try to chase the refugees away or help them, the decision is up to you – remember that if you try to help the refugees, you may have to fight the mighty’s bodyguards. Regardless of the solution, enter the house and find the hatch to the basement.
Open it with the key from the first floor or with Sleight of Hand. Go inside – watch out for traps – and head to the end of the room. Search everything and read the notes on the table. One of them will automatically start the Investigate The Suspicious Toys quest – you can read about it later in the guide.
Leave the building and head towards the refugees – talk to the lonely man from the picture above – this will move the Shadowheart quest ‘Daughter of Darkness’ forward.

We described all the above quests on separate pages in our walkthrough.
How to solve a murder case?
In Baldur’s Gate 3, solving a murder case requires keen observation and strategic thinking. Players must gather evidence by exploring the crime scene, interrogating witnesses, and piecing together clues that reveal the motives and relationships of the involved characters. Engaging with various NPCs can unlock critical information, while choices made during conversations can lead to different outcomes. Utilizing skills like Insight can help discern truths from lies, ultimately guiding players to uncover the murderer and resolve the case effectively.
Head towards the city until you hear about the murder of Duke Stelmane.
Buy a newspaper from a child and enter the temple where a dialogue is taking place between a Halfling and a flying elephant named Valeria.
After it ends, start a conversation with the Halfling – you will learn that Lorgan’s father was murdered.
Proceed to the room where his body is located, and then talk to the nurse. After this, cast Speak with the Dead on the dead father of Morgan. You will learn more details about the murder.
Next, look for the hatch with a blood stain next to it and go through it.
Explore the location. You can complete the side quest Help the Cursed Monk from Act I here. Look for a crack between the rocks in one of the rooms and then go through it.
Search the new part of the location and fight with the doppelgangers. After defeating the opponents, you’ll find a blade on a pile of rubble. To reveal it, make a Perception check.
Go back to the Halfling , then go across the bridge. Enter Sharess’ Caress and speak to the woman by the entrance, who will assign you the task: Find the ‘Stern Librarian’ Ffion.
Talking with Raphael
In “Baldur’s Gate 3,” engaging with Raphael is a pivotal moment that tests players’ moral compass and decision-making skills. As a cunning devil, Raphael offers tantalizing deals, including the removal of the tadpole from your character’s head, which can seem appealing in the face of dire circumstances. However, players must navigate his manipulative nature, as accepting his offers often leads to complications and disapproval from companions, particularly Astarion. Throughout the game, Raphael’s interactions are laced with intrigue and deception, making it essential for players to weigh their options carefully and consider the long-term consequences of their choices in this richly woven narrative.
Next, go upstairs and talk to Raphael – you will have the opportunity to progress in the Free Orpheus, Help Kith’rak Voss, and The Githyanki Warrior quests.
If you agree to cooperate with Voss, it will mean that, sooner or later, the Emperor will become your enemy, so it is wise to baffle him after leaving Raphael (if you’ve agreed to his arrangement) and lie to Voss so that the Emperor does not suspect anything.
Ignore the above issue if you don’t have Lae’zel in your team or didn’t visit Rosymorn Monastery during Act I.
Searching for a journal
Searching for the right journal to publish your work can be a daunting task, especially with the myriad of options available. To simplify this process, various tools and platforms have emerged that help researchers identify suitable journals based on their manuscript’s content. For instance, services like Wiley’s Journal Finder and Taylor & Francis’ Journal Suggester allow authors to input their abstracts or keywords to receive tailored journal recommendations. These tools not only highlight potential matches but also provide insights into each journal’s metrics, such as impact factor and publication speed, ensuring that authors can make informed decisions about where to submit their research.
Return to the room with Raphael and enter the room next door searching for the journal.
Next, jump onto the adjacent roof.
Walk around it and enter the room through the balcony. Search it and you will find a list of murder targets as well as a body under the bed. Collecting the list of targets unlocks the Impress the Murder Tribunal story quest and pushes the Investigate the Murders story quest, which you started after buying a newspaper, forward.
Return to Sharess’ Caress and talk to Valeria. Show her the blade and the list of murder targets – she will give you a pass to the city and also recommend continuing the task in the main part of Baldur’s Gate.
Talking with Gortash
In “Baldur’s Gate 3,” engaging in a conversation with Gortash presents a pivotal moment for players in Act 3. Known for his ruthless ambition and cunning, Gortash offers a tempting alliance that could simplify the player’s journey through Rivington. He proposes that by eliminating Orin, another key antagonist, players can secure safe passage and avoid unnecessary confrontations with his Steel Watch guards. However, this deal comes with significant moral implications and potential consequences, particularly concerning party dynamics, as accepting his offer may lead to disapproval from characters like Karlach, who harbors a deep resentment towards Gortash due to past betrayals. Navigating this interaction requires careful consideration of both immediate benefits and long-term repercussions in the unfolding narrative.
Then cross the bridge and show your pass. The automatons from Steel Watch will stop you, and Gortash will make you a proposal. Go to the audience with him at the watchtower, then start the dialogue.
You can agree to his pact, refuse him, or try to attack him here – the fight is absurdly difficult due to the automatons here, which are very challenging opponents, so it’s better to follow one of the other two options.
