Guides

In the vast expanse of Grand Theft Auto V, the Civil Border Patrol mission stands out as a unique blend of satire and action. This Strangers & Freaks side mission, led by the eccentric duo Joe and Josef, tasks Trevor Philips with capturing “illegal immigrants” in a series of events that are both humorous and intense. With its blend of quirky characters and high-speed chases, this mission offers a fascinating glimpse into the game’s lighter side, while also providing a challenge for players aiming to achieve the coveted Gold Medal.

Availability: Trevor

Location: You need to reach the buildings located right next to the road in the Eastern part of Sandy Shores (the above screenshot). You will meet Joe and Josef here, members of the title civil patrol that are looking out for illegal immigrants.

Keep shooting at the escaping vehicle and watch out for the big jumps while driving off-road

Get into the SUV that belongs to the members of the civil patrol (Park Ranger) and drive to the East, towards the Yellow Jack Inn. Park the vehicle in front of the inn, come inside and examine the building. Return to the parking lot and, quickly, get into the car again to start the pursuit after the escaping Mexicans. It would be good to finish this chase early enough, because this is required for the completion of the mission in 100%. Use automatic weapon or any other good weapon but, lay your fire down only on the car that you are chasing, instead of the people in it.

You need to use the stun gun on the immigrants that you catch up with

After you have sufficiently damaged the car that you are chasing, it should stop. Get out of the SUV, from your inventory select the stun gun, which you have received from Joe. Use the stun gun twice on the mariachi. After you arrest the apprehended people, get into the car on which they were escaping and wait for the mission to conclude.

Rewards for the completion of the mission:

  • 500 dollars
  • new contact on Trevor’s contacts list: Joe

Requirements for the completion of the mission in 100%:

  • Mariachi My Ride – you need to get into the car that the Mexicans were escaping on.
  • Stop the Music – you need to complete the chase of the mariachis within 40 seconds. Keep using the machine gun, or any other good weapon, to your aid and lay your fire on the vehicle of the refugees, to render it immobile.

What are the main challenges in completing the Civil Border Patrol mission

Completing the Civil Border Patrol mission in Grand Theft Auto V presents several challenges:

  1. Chase and Capture: The mission involves chasing down a Tornado driven by Mariachi band members. The chase can be challenging due to the terrain and the handling of the vehicle you are using, which may slip and slide on dirt tracks.

  2. Time Pressure: To achieve the Gold Medal, you must stop the band within 40 seconds. This requires quick action, such as shooting the Tornado’s tires to immobilize it without harming the occupants.

  3. Vehicle Handling: The vehicle provided by Joe and Josef is not ideal for high-speed chases on rough terrain, making it difficult to maintain control and speed.

  4. Precision Shooting: You need to target the vehicle’s tires without hitting the band members, which demands precision and quick reflexes.

  5. Mission Objectives: Completing specific objectives like “Mariachi My Ride” (stealing the Tornado) and “Stop the Music” (stopping the band within 40 seconds) can be tricky and may require multiple attempts.
