Spiral Abyss – what is it?

The Spiral Abyss in Genshin Impact is a challenging dungeon designed for single-player gameplay, accessible once players reach Adventure Rank 20. Located at Cape Oath, the Spiral Abyss consists of multiple floors, each containing chambers where players must defeat enemies to earn Abyssal Stars and progress. This endgame content features unique restrictions, such as the inability to use items or change characters during battles, requiring strategic planning and team composition. With increasing difficulty as players ascend, the Spiral Abyss offers valuable rewards and serves as a test of skill and character development in the game.

Spiral Abyss is a special dungeon that the player unlocks upon gaining 20 Adventure Rank (AR). This Dungeon changes every month – mostly prizes and opponents change. Spiral Abyss is divided into 8 rooms, and there are 3 chambers in each of them, so to complete each Spiral Abyss you need to complete as many as 24 chambers. You get rewards for completing each of them. Depending on the time in which you complete the room, you will receive 0-3 stars. After receiving 3 stars, you will be given the opportunity to receive a special award, which includes Primogems. To advance to the next room, you must earn at least six out of nine possible stars. After clearing room 8, you unlock Abyssal Moon Spire.

How do I get in?

To access the Spiral Abyss in Genshin Impact, players must first reach Adventure Rank 20 and complete the Archon Quest “Prologue: Act I – The Outlander Who Caught the Wind.” Once these prerequisites are met, the Spiral Abyss becomes available on the map, located on the northeastern side of Liyue. Players can enter by interacting with the entrance, which will allow them to challenge various floors filled with increasingly difficult enemies. Each floor has specific objectives and rewards, making strategic team composition essential for success.

Although you get access to Spiral Abyss once you get 20 AR, getting into Spiral Abyss is not as easy as it seems. The Teleport that will take you to Spiral Abyss is located on a remote island, and you can reach it through a hole in the sky.

To be able to fly high enough to get into the hole, you have to walk three souls to the surrounding altars. The moment the souls are discharged, there will be an air current in the middle that will allow you to fly up and get into the hole.

Just go in there and you’ll be on the other side. There is a portal that will lead you to Spiral Abyss. Next time you won’t have to go through a hole in the sky, as you will unlock a quick trip to that place, just open the map and choose where the Spiral Abyss is located.

Special rules

In the Special Rules section of the Genshin Impact Spiral Abyss guide, players should be aware of unique mechanics that can significantly influence their strategy. Each floor may introduce specific Ley Line Disorders, which alter gameplay dynamics, such as changing elemental effects or modifying enemy behavior. For instance, in the current version, Floor 12 features the Blessing of the Abyssal Moon, enhancing damage output after using an Elemental Skill. Understanding these rules is crucial for optimizing team compositions and maximizing damage against formidable foes, especially in high-stakes encounters where timing and synergy are paramount.

Spiral Abyss offers increasingly difficult challenges and more interesting rewards, but it is important to remember that special rules apply here. In each of the rooms you will get some bonus e.g. to Elemental Damage. In addition, every time you start a new Chamber, you have to choose from one of the three available buffs to help you through the dungeon. It’s important to remember that when you walk through a room, you can no longer change Party composition. Also, you can’t resurrect allies or cure them with food. If any of your characters die, they cannot be resurrected, thus in the next Chamber, you will be forced to play without the character in question. Decide before choosing the team which Elemental will be key.
