Location

Rya, also known as Zorayas, can be found in two primary locations within Elden Ring. Initially, she appears in Liurnia of the Lakes, specifically at a small pavilion northwest of the Laskyar Ruins Site of Grace, near a Birdseye Telescope. Here, players will learn about her stolen necklace and receive an invitation to Volcano Manor after retrieving it from Blackguard Big Boggart. Following this, Rya’s story progresses to Volcano Manor, located in the Altus Plateau region. After completing certain tasks, players can find her true form as Zorayas in a hidden room within the Legacy Dungeon, adjacent to a lava pit, where critical choices regarding her fate must be made.

Rya is in Liurnia of the Lakes , in a small shrine, near the golden telescope (the area is marked on the map).

How to proceed with the quest?

To proceed with the quest involving Rya and Zorayas in Elden Ring, players should first ensure they have engaged with the relevant NPCs and gathered any necessary items or information. Start by locating Rya at the Liurnia of the Lakes area, where she will provide crucial dialogue to advance the quest. After that, players must follow her instructions carefully, which may involve exploring specific locations or defeating certain enemies. It is also essential to keep an eye on any quest markers or notifications that appear, as these will guide you through the various stages of the quest. If you find yourself stuck, consider revisiting previous areas or consulting NPCs for additional hints that could help you move forward.

Once you reach the area in question, talk to Rya. She will tell you about how a certain person stole her necklace.

After hearing the story, agree to retrieve her necklace. The man who stole it is nearby.

You have to go north-east from where Rya is (the screenshot shows the exact location of the man).

When you reach the location, you’ll encounter an old wooden shed. Your target is next to it, next to a large pot.

Unfortunately, the NPC will not give the necklace away for free. You have to agree to his plan. Accept it and then enter the store tab.

Rya’s Necklace will cost you 1000 Runes. If you have enough Runes, purchase the item, then go back to Raya and return the necklace you bought.

You can also kill the man to get the necklace, but this is not recommended, as the fight is rather hard and you’ll lose the chance to complete this NPC’s questline. 1000 Runes isn’t that much.

After you return the item she asked for, you will receive Volcano Manor Invitation . You’ll also learn the way to Altus Plateau, where you’ll encounter Raya again.

To continue with the questline, travel to the AltusPlateau . There are two ways of accessing this region. The first involves defeating a boss encountered in Liurnia of the Lakes, found near Ruin-Strewn Precipice. You’ll have to face Magma Wyrm Makar . After the battle is won, you must travel through a tunnel that leads to Altus Plateau.

The second option involves using Grand Lift of Dectus, provided you have 2 Dectus Medallions. One of the medallions is in Fort Haight , in a chest at the top of the tower. The second one is in the Dragonbarrow , inside FortFaroth .

Once you find yourself in Altus Plateau, there are 4 ways of reaching Volcano Manor., To view other ways of reaching Volcano Manor, visit Volcanic Manor – how to get?

However, if you want to have another encounter with Rya, visit one of two places. If you’ve chosen to reach Altus Plateau through Grand Life of Dectus you’ll find Rya there. Talk to her and she will bring you inside Volcanic Court .

The second variant involves reaching the region after defeating Magma Wyrm Makar. From there, you need to travel to Lux Ruins, not far from Erdtree-Gazing Hill site of grace. Talk to Rya and she will lead you straight to the Manor.

You’ll receive a key that opens various rooms in the Manor. Rya is in one of them, on the left side of the long corridor. Talk to her.

While at it, pick up Letterfrom Volcano Manor from the table. Now travel to the red marker on your map, located in Limgrave.

You will find a red sign there. You have to interact with it and then kill the NPC that will appear.

After defeating Old Knight Istvan and receiving the reward from Tanith, Rya will move to the next room on the right. There, however, you will meet an NPC in the form of a human-serpent. This is the true form of Rya – it turns out her name is Zoraya.

Once the conversation concludes, pick up another letter to receive a new objective involving finding another red marker that appears on your map, this time in Altus Plateau region. This time you need to defeat Rileigh .

After defeating him, go to Tanith again to receive your reward. Reset the location by visiting a site of grace, and then revisit the room where Rya’s true form was revealed. She will go back to her human form, and ask you to investigate some strange noises. Agree to the task to continue the questline.

Your new objective is to destroy an illusion in the room on the right and reach Prison Town Church site of grace.

Return to Zoraya and tell her what you saw to continue the quest.

Optionally, you can ask about both Zoraya’s form and her problem with the strange sounds to hear her version of the events. However, it is not required to complete the task.

The next step is to defeat the Godskin Noble . After defeating him, go to the serpent altar. There you will find an item – Serpent’s Amnion .

Give it to Rya. After resetting the location, Rya will disappear from the manor.

You can inform Tanitha about this turn of events. After a short conversation, she will give you an item (Tonic of Forgetfulness) that may affect the further course of the quest.

. You can give the tonic to Zoraya, but this is not mandatory.

You must now go to Zoraya’s new location. Go to the Templeof Eiglay site of grace. Use the elevator and then go straight ahead, you will encounter some fire snails there.

After a while, you will see a huge lava lake. Continue and you’ll notice an Iron Maiden emerging from around the corner. You can defeat it or run past. To the left of where the iron maiden appears, you’ll find a window that you can jump through.

Jump through it and then open the door on the right. On the other side of the door, you will notice a hostile serpent-man. Kill or run past him, then take the stairs to the top. You’ll find yourself in a room. There is an elevator on the left. However, watch out for opponents who will attack you.

When taking the elevator, do not wait for it to go all the way down. After a while from its activation, wait for a small window to appear in front of you, and jump through it. On the left side there is another window, also jump through it. There is a small chamber downstairs with Rya in it.

After talking to her, you will have three options, each with slightly different consequences.

  1. The first option is to give her the Tonic of Forgetfulness. After drinking this potion, Rya will fall asleep. However, she will re-appear in Volcano Manor after defeating Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy . This is the only way for Rya/Zoraya to survive. However, she won’t remember anything.
  2. The second option involves killing her, i.e. fulfilling her request. All you have to do is attack her. She will turn into a snake after dying.
  3. The third option is to leave her in her chamber and do nothing. After defeating Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy, Rya / Zoraya will receive new dialogue. Reset the location and travel to her chamber to find Zorayas’ Letter. Unfortunately, the character will disappear permanently.

Reward for completing the quest

Completing Rya’s questline in Elden Ring rewards players with valuable items and a deeper understanding of her character. After navigating through various tasks, including retrieving her stolen necklace and assisting her in the Volcano Manor, players face a pivotal choice regarding Rya’s fate. Depending on the decision made—whether to kill her, give her the Tonic of Forgetfulness, or spare her—the rewards vary. Players can earn the Daedicar’s Woe talisman, which enhances damage taken while worn, along with Zoraya’s Letter, providing insight into Rya’s true identity as Zorayas. Each path reflects the player’s choices and impacts their experience within the game world.

The reward for completing the questline is Daedicar’s Woe .It is a talisman that increases the damage you take. It makes the game harder rather than easier. You’ll receive the reward regardless of the variant you’ve chosen.

What is the significance of the serpent’s amnion in Volcano Manor

The Serpent’s Amnion is a key item in Elden Ring that holds significant importance within the lore of Volcano Manor and Rya’s questline. Here’s a deeper look into its significance:

Origins and Description

  • The Serpent’s Amnion is described as an amnion from a mother’s womb that cradled “poor unwanted offspring of a repellant birthing ritual,” and it remains perpetually damp, symbolizing a connection to life and birth that is both grotesque and tragic.

Connection to Rya/Zorayas

  • Rya, who later reveals her true form as Zorayas, is believed to be the daughter of Tanith, the leader of Volcano Manor. However, she learns through the amnion that her origins are far more disturbing. The amnion is tied to her birth and serves as a reminder of her true lineage, which is not one of grace but rather born from dark rituals associated with the serpent god Rykard.

Role in Rya’s Questline

  • After defeating the Godskin Noble in Volcano Manor, players can find the Serpent’s Amnion on an altar. When given to Rya, it triggers a pivotal moment in her story as she realizes the truth about her origins—she was not born from Tanith but from a hideous ritual involving her actual mother, Daedica. This revelation leads Rya to question her identity and purpose, ultimately prompting her to seek closure regarding her true heritage.

Symbolism and Themes

  • The amnion symbolizes the twisted nature of creation within the context of Elden Ring. It reflects themes of unwanted life and the consequences of blasphemous acts. The idea that it never dries out suggests an everlasting burden of knowledge and identity for Rya, who grapples with the implications of being born from such a dark legacy.

Conclusion

In summary, the Serpent’s Amnion is not just a key item; it encapsulates the tragic backstory of Rya/Zorayas and serves as a critical element in understanding the dark lore of Volcano Manor. Its role highlights the themes of identity, lineage, and the grotesque nature of existence within the game’s narrative.
