Unlocking the quest
In the world of Diablo 4, the journey of the Sorcerer is one of transformation and mastery over elemental forces. Unlocking the quest for the Sorcerer’s Legacy of the Magi involves delving into ancient tomes and harnessing the power of arcane spells. Players must navigate treacherous landscapes, face formidable foes, and solve intricate puzzles to uncover the secrets of this mystical legacy. As they progress, they will not only enhance their magical abilities but also uncover the rich lore that defines their character’s path, ultimately leading to a deeper understanding of their role in the eternal conflict between light and darkness.
You need to advance your Sorcerer or Sorceress to level 15. The quest will automatically appear in the Priority Quests tab.
You have to reach the area west of the village of Nevesk in the Fractured Peaks region. There you will encounter a stranger – the sorcerer Mordarin.
Retrieving the Codex
Retrieving the Codex involves a quest initiated by the sorcerer Mordarin, who tasks players with locating The Forgotten Codex in the Lost Archives, situated east of their meeting point in the Fractured Peaks. Players do not need to defeat the dungeon’s main boss; instead, they should explore to find the codex within one of the large chests. Successfully retrieving it is crucial for progressing through the Sorcerer Legacy of the Magi quest, as it unlocks new enchantment mechanics that enhance character abilities and provide powerful upgrades for gear items. After obtaining the codex, players must return to Mordarin to continue their journey and face subsequent challenges in the questline.
Mordarin will send you in search of The Forgotten Codex. You must therefore visit the Lost Archives to the east of the place where you met the sorcerer.
You don’t have to complete the entire dungeon (i.e. defeat its main boss), just explore it enough to find the codex. It should be in one of the large chests (picture).
Return to Mordarin
To continue your journey in Diablo 4 as a Sorcerer, particularly within the context of the Legacy of the Magi storyline, follow these steps to progress towards unlocking new abilities and advancing your character. First, ensure you have reached level 15, as this milestone marks the beginning of your journey to acquire Enchantment slots. Upon reaching this level, embark on a white breadcrumb quest that will guide you towards Nevesk. From there, head southwest until you locate Mordarin, who will task you with retrieving an item called the Forgotten Codex from the Lost Archives dungeon. While it is not necessary to complete the entire dungeon, finding this codex is crucial as it unlocks your first Enchantment slot. Once retrieved, return to Mordarin and assist him in his ritual, which includes fighting off enemies. This sequence concludes by unlocking your initial Enchantment slot, setting you up for further progression and customization of your Sorcerer’s abilities.
You may now leave the dungeon and return to the sorcerer. After the conversation, enter the Abandoned Shack.
Defeating the demons
In the Defeating the Demons segment of the Legacy of the Magi quest in Diablo 4, players must engage in a ritual led by the sorcerer Mordarin. After lighting four braziers, a wave of demons is summoned, challenging the player’s combat skills. This encounter is designed to test the Sorcerer’s abilities, allowing them to utilize their spells effectively against these foes. The objective is to eliminate all summoned demons until a progress bar is filled, culminating in a conversation with Mordarin that concludes the quest. Successfully defeating these demons not only advances the storyline but also rewards players with valuable experience and unlocks the Sorcerer’s first enchantment slot, enhancing their magical prowess for future battles.
Reach the 4 cauldrons that can be lighted up. You don’t have to use fire spells, just press the interaction button.
The battle with the demons will begin. Fight them until the red bar is full. Talk to the sorcerer for the last time to end the quest.
Putting the skill in the Enchantment slot
In Diablo 4, placing a skill in the Enchantment slot significantly enhances your gameplay experience. By allocating a skill to an Enchantment slot, you unlock a unique passive effect or bonus related to that skill. For instance, assigning Fire Bolt to an Enchantment slot can increase your direct damage by up to 100% chance to burn enemies for 23% over eight seconds. This allows Sorcerers to personalize their combat style and create powerful synergies between different skills. Skills can simultaneously be used both on your action bar and in one Enchantment slot, providing flexibility during combat. Additionally, choices made regarding skill ranks, enhancements, and upgrades carry through to the Enchantment slots, ensuring that each selected skill remains effective even after being placed into these specialized slots. This system empowers Sorcerers to tailor their builds precisely, leveraging various elemental themes to achieve complex playstyles.
The reward for this quest is the first enchantment slot for the Sorcerer class. There you can put one of your abilities and get passive bonuses.
Open the skill tree and select Skill Assignment.
Choose any active ability you have. This can be a skill purchased with a skill point or unlocked by wearing gear.
Instead of assigning skills to the bottom bar, highlight the enchantment slot (picture) and confirm the choice. Initially, you have 1 enchantment slot. After advancing to level 30, you will unlock the second one.
What are the best strategies to defeat the demons in the Legacy of the Magi quest
To effectively defeat the demons during the Legacy of the Magi quest in Diablo 4, players can employ several strategic approaches:
Preparation Steps
- Level Requirement: Ensure your Sorcerer is at least level 15 to access the quest.
- Skill Setup: Prioritize skills that provide crowd control (CC) and area-of-effect (AoE) damage, as these will be crucial for managing multiple enemies.
- Enchantment Slot: Utilize the first Enchantment Slot unlocked through the quest to enhance your abilities. Skills like Fireball can trigger chain reactions, causing enemies to explode upon death, which is particularly effective against groups.
Combat Strategies
- Lighting the Braziers: Begin by lighting the four braziers as instructed by Mordarin. This action summons waves of demons that will attack in succession.
- Use Defensive Spells: Employ shield spells to mitigate damage and maintain survivability during the fight. The Sorcerer’s defensive abilities can provide vital protection while you deal with the onslaught.
- Focus on Crowd Control: Utilize CC spells to incapacitate tougher enemies, like succubi, which are among the hardest foes you will face during this encounter.
- AoE Damage: Activate AoE spells to quickly eliminate weaker demons as they spawn. This will prevent them from overwhelming you and allows you to focus on stronger opponents.
Execution
- Stay Mobile: Keep moving to avoid being surrounded and to position yourself effectively for AoE attacks.
- Target Priority: Focus on eliminating weaker demons first to reduce incoming damage, then shift your attention to tougher foes.
- Monitor Health: Keep an eye on your health and use potions as necessary to stay in the fight.
After successfully defeating all summoned demons, return to Mordarin for rewards, including experience points and unlocking further enchantment capabilities.
